Limited Public Transport From May 31

Limited public transport from May 31

Initially, it was decided to open limited public-private offices-courts and factories without extending the holidays, but public transport, passenger boats, and trains would remain completely closed. Now the government’s new decision is that from May 31, public transport, passenger boats, and trains will also run with a limited number of passengers.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain spoke about the government’s decision in the media on Wednesday night. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given this new directive. The local administration will decide how many passengers will be on public transport.
Earlier this afternoon, it was decided that the public holiday would not increase. Limited government-private offices-courts and factories will be opened. In this case, these activities must be carried out under the hygiene rules. At that time it was said that public transport, passenger boats, and trains were completely closed. However, cars and private cars can go to work. Apart from this, they will be able to fly according to strict hygiene rules. But the question arises as to what will happen to other issues including movement in the office by stopping public transport.
Due to coronavirus, the country has been on public holiday since March 26. The leave has already been extended in seven phases. The last general holiday was extended until May 30. The holy Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated two days ago at the end of one month of fasting. The last announced general holiday against coronavirus also ends three days later, on May 30. In this situation, the government came up with such a decision about leaving.
This afternoon, the state minister for public administration told Prothom Alo that the holiday is coming to an end on May 30. Thereafter, economic activities and office-courts will be opened to a limited extent by ensuring the protection of the life of the citizens and complying with the rules of hygiene. Government, semi-government, autonomous and non-government organizations will be able to open on a limited scale in their respective systems. In that case, the elderly, sick, and pregnant workers will refrain from going to work. Also, government officials and employees must abide by the 13 points of the health service department, including wearing a mask.
The state minister said shops and business centers will remain open from 10 am to 4 pm as before. However, in this case, the hygiene rules must be followed more strictly. Educational institutions will remain closed for the time being. However, online or other virtual classes will continue.
Government sources say controlling the coronavirus as well as keeping the economy afloat is a big challenge for the government. Again, the situation is deteriorating. It is from this thought that it has been decided to open everything on a limited scale.
The last holiday notification was relaxed in some cases. Some establishments including shops and readymade garment factories have been opened. Banks are also open. The office is also going to be kept open if necessary.
