Initially, it was decided to open limited public-private offices-courts and factories without extending the holidays, but public transport, passenger boats, and trains would remain completely closed. Now the government’s new decision is that from May 31, public transport, passenger boats, and trains will also run with a limited number of passengers.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain spoke about the government’s decision in the media on Wednesday night. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given this new directive. The local administration will decide how many passengers will be on public transport.
Earlier this afternoon, it was decided that the public holiday would not increase. Limited government-private offices-courts and factories will be opened. Government, semi-government, autonomous and non-government organizations will be able to open on a limited scale in their respective systems. In that case, the elderly, sick, and pregnant workers will refrain from going to work. Also, government officials and employees must abide by the 13 points of the health service department, including wearing a mask.
